CAMPING INFORMATION – POINT LEO FORESHORE RESERVE
Point Leo Foreshore Reserve offers a unique coastal camping experience on the Mornington Peninsula, with direct access to beaches, walking trails and some of Victoria’s most popular surfing locations.
Camping is available throughout most of the year, with a mixture of powered and unpowered campsites.
Some camping areas operate seasonally and may not be available at certain times of the year.
Bookings are strongly recommended outside peak periods.
Peak Period Bookings
The Christmas School Holiday period, Easter, Melbourne Cup Weekend and March Long Weekend camping periods are allocated by ballot.
Outside these periods, campsites are generally available on a first-come, first-served basis and may be booked online.
Please note that demand can be high during warmer months and bookings are recommended.
Arrival Information
All campers must check in with the Ranger before occupying or setting up on a campsite.
If the office is unattended, please call the contact number displayed on the office door.
Upon check-in you will receive:
- Campsite allocation details
- Campground map
- Amenities access code
- Camper Car Pass
Your Camper Car Pass must be displayed on your vehicle dashboard at all times.
Check-In and Check-Out
Check-In: From 1:00 pm
The office does not open for arrivals before 1:00 pm.
Campers are requested to arrive before dark.
Campsites must not be set up after dark.
Check-Out: 11:00 am
All campsites must be vacated by 11:00 am on the day of departure unless otherwise approved in writing.
Campsite Occupancy
A maximum of six people may occupy a campsite at any time.
No more than four adults may occupy a campsite.
The campsite allocated to your booking is the site that must be occupied unless directed otherwise by Reserve Management.
Point Leo Foreshore Reserve reserves the right to relocate bookings where operational requirements, maintenance requirements or safety concerns make this necessary.
All tents, caravans, camper trailers, annexes, gazebos, vehicles, guy ropes and personal property must remain within the boundaries of the allocated campsite.
Facilities
Toilets and Showers
Toilet and shower facilities are available for all campers.
Please leave facilities clean and tidy after use.
Young children must be accompanied by an adult when using amenities.
Amenities access codes must not be shared with non-campers.
Doors to amenities blocks must not be propped open.
Camp Kitchens
Camp kitchens are available for camper use.
Facilities include shared cooking areas, sinks, refrigeration facilities and seating areas.
Cooking equipment, utensils and consumables must be supplied by campers.
Camp kitchens must be left clean and tidy after use.
Camp kitchens may be closed temporarily for cleaning, maintenance or operational reasons.
Campers must comply with any directions issued by staff regarding kitchen use.
Water
Water taps throughout the reserve are shared facilities.
Town water is available throughout the campground and is safe for drinking.
Individual campsite water connections are not available.
Laundry Facilities
Laundry facilities are available during peak camping periods.
Availability may vary seasonally.
Please check with the office for current availability.
Vehicles and Parking
A maximum of one vehicle per campsite is permitted unless approved by Reserve Management.
Vehicles must be parked wholly within the boundaries of the allocated campsite.
Additional vehicles must be parked in designated parking areas.
Visitor vehicles are not permitted within camping areas.
Emergency access routes must remain clear at all times.
Vehicles must comply with posted speed limits and operate safely with regard to pedestrians, campers and wildlife.
Visitors
Visitors are welcome during the day but must comply with all Reserve rules and directions.
Visitor vehicles must remain outside the camping areas.
The booking holder is responsible for the conduct of all visitors associated with their campsite.
Respect for Other Campers
Campers must not enter, cross through or occupy another campsite without the permission of the occupants.
Please use roads, designated tracks and pathways when moving around the reserve.
Campers must conduct themselves in a manner that does not interfere with the safety, comfort or enjoyment of other visitors.
Noise and Behaviour
Point Leo Foreshore Reserve is a family-friendly campground.
A quiet period applies from 9:30 pm each evening.
Excessive noise, offensive behaviour, drunkenness, vandalism and antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated.
Campers may be directed to reduce noise levels or cease activities disturbing other campers.
The Ranger or authorised staff may direct any person to leave the reserve if behaviour is impacting other campers or breaching Reserve conditions.
Security Call-Outs
Where excessive noise, antisocial behaviour or other breaches of campground rules result in a security patrol or contractor being required to attend a campsite, Point Leo Foreshore Reserve reserves the right to recover the cost of attendance from the responsible booking holder.
By making a booking, the responsible camper authorises Point Leo Foreshore Reserve to charge the credit card used for the booking for reasonable security contractor costs incurred as a result of substantiated complaints associated with that campsite.
Campfires and Cooking
Campfires, fire pits, wood fires, charcoal fires, solid fuel stoves, wood-fired BBQs and charcoal BBQs are prohibited throughout the reserve at all times.
Persons observing a campfire within the reserve should immediately notify Reserve Management.
Campers must comply with all CFA directions and any additional fire safety directions issued by Reserve Management.
Generators
Generators are prohibited within the reserve at all times.
Dogs
Dogs are prohibited within campground areas at all times.
Registered Assistance Dogs are permitted subject to declaration at check-in and production of appropriate accreditation.
Assistance Dogs must remain under effective control at all times.
Cycling
Bicycles
Bicycles may only be ridden on campground roads between 8:30 am and 6:00 pm.
Bicycles must not be ridden through campsites, around amenities blocks, within camp kitchens or on footpaths.
Helmets must be worn at all times.
Electric Bicycles and Scooters
Electric bicycles, electric scooters and other powered personal mobility devices are prohibited within campground areas at all times unless expressly authorised in writing by Reserve Management.
Drones
Drones and other remotely piloted aircraft are prohibited within the reserve at all times unless expressly authorised in writing by Reserve Management.
Environment and Vegetation Protection
Trees, shrubs and native vegetation must not be removed, damaged, pruned or interfered with under any circumstances.
Access tracks must be used at all times.
Campers must not enter fenced protection areas.
Campers must not damage signs, fencing, vegetation, dunes or reserve infrastructure.
Gem digging, excavation and disturbance of soil are prohibited.
If an area is not a designated road, gravel surface, pathway or maintained campsite, campers should avoid entering it.
Grey Water
Grey water from caravans, campervans, RVs and camping equipment must be collected in a suitable container and disposed of only at designated dump points.
Grey water must not be discharged onto the ground under any circumstances.
Rubbish and Site Cleanliness
Campers must maintain their campsite in a clean and tidy condition.
All rubbish must be securely bagged and placed in designated bins.
Campsites must be left clean and free of rubbish upon departure.
Littering is prohibited.
Electrical Safety
All electrical equipment must be maintained in safe working order.
Any electrical appliance brought into a camp kitchen, amenities block or other communal facility must display a current electrical test and tag certification.
Campers must not use untagged electrical equipment in communal facilities.
Electrical faults, damaged equipment and other electrical hazards must be reported immediately.
Electric vehicles must not be connected to campground power outlets unless authorised by Reserve Management.
Lithium Battery Charging
Lithium-ion batteries, including batteries used in electric bicycles, electric scooters and similar devices, must not be charged in camp kitchens, amenities blocks or communal facilities.
Batteries should not be left unattended whilst charging.
Damaged, swollen or modified batteries must not be charged under any circumstances.
Mobile phones, battery packs and other personal electrical devices should not be left unattended whilst charging in communal facilities.
Fireworks
Fireworks, flares, sky lanterns and similar pyrotechnic devices are prohibited within the reserve at all times.
Emergencies and Hazards
Campers must immediately report:
- Fire
- Gas leaks
- Electrical faults
- Hazardous trees
- Fallen limbs
- Damaged infrastructure
- Any other safety hazard

Compliance and Enforcement
The Ranger and authorised Reserve staff may direct any person to comply with Reserve conditions, relocate equipment, cease an activity or leave the reserve.
Failure to comply with Reserve conditions may result in:
- Cancellation of bookings
- Eviction from the reserve without refund
- Recovery of reasonable costs incurred by Reserve Management
- Refusal of future bookings
- Any other action available under applicable legislation, regulations or Reserve policies
Refunds, Cancellations and Transfers
Cancellations
More than 7 days before arrival
Cancellations received more than seven (7) days before the scheduled arrival date will receive a refund less the applicable Administration Fee.
Within 7 days of arrival
Camping fees are forfeited if a cancellation request is received within seven (7) days of the scheduled arrival date.
Transfers and Date Changes
More than 7 days before arrival
Requests to transfer a booking received more than seven (7) days before the scheduled arrival date will incur a $20 Transfer Fee.
Within 7 days of arrival
Transfers are not permitted within seven (7) days of the scheduled arrival date.
Number of Transfers
Bookings may only be transferred once.
Once transferred, the booking is no longer eligible for any further transfer, cancellation or refund.
Restricted Periods
Transfers into or out of the following ballot periods are not permitted:
- Christmas School Holiday Period
- Easter Period
- Melbourne Cup Weekend
- March Long Weekend
Transfer Validity
Transferred bookings must be used within six (6) months of the original booking date.
Reduced Stay Requests
Requests to shorten a booking may be considered up to 48 hours before arrival at the discretion of the Manager.
Approval is not guaranteed.
Administration Fee
The Administration Fee is equal to 50% of the applicable seasonal nightly campsite fee.
How to Request a Cancellation or Transfer
All requests must be submitted in writing via email to:

New Bookings Made in Error
Where a request to change dates is received within 24 hours of the original booking being made, the Transfer Fee may be waived at the discretion of Reserve Management.
Tariff Differences
Where a booking is transferred to dates with a lower applicable tariff, no refund of the difference in fees will be payable.
